The United States gets a taste of Europe

There is always a clatter of scolding leftist voices clamouring for the US to "be more like the rest of the world!" or at least, "be more like Europe!"

Well, rejoice!

Looks like the US is on track to be just like Europe this year:

The Commerce Department reported Thursday that gross domestic product, or GDP, increased at an annual rate of 1.9 percent in the April-to-June period. That marked an improvement over the feeble 0.9 percent growth logged in the first quarter of this year and the outright contraction in the economy during the final quarter of last year.

Two percent GDP growth, a Euro area tradition* for the new century. So, at least in one respect the US is performing just like their Euro-colleagues this year. So, how does it feel?

* = Slight poetic license taken. Note, slight.
